The Twin State Trail (Before)

My journey to discovering poverty this time is taking me further into the interiors of two states – Maharashtra and Karnataka. I would be visiting many cities – Mumbai (Starting Point), Pune, Satara, Kolhapur, Bhadra, Dharwad, GOA & Bangalore (Destination). Its 2000 km to and fro.Its sort of a mixed trip where i would be also intersecting with my friends, mentors and possibly a lot of rich people too. This journey will allow me to touch poverty, gasp the state of infrastructure in the states and also prepare me for my next trip which should be in the most remote areas of India. My last trip to Satara to find poverty surprised me as Satara had become quite a developed town similar to Pune (My Journey to Discover Satara).

Preparation

My preparations started a month before the trip. My stay with Spicy (my pup) had to be arranged, the car had to be serviced, food to be arranged, the stop-overs had to be planned, budgets to be allocated (i have managed to double it even before the trip has commenced). Other things like networking with people, arranging for clothes, working out possible different routes to and fro, possible emergency situations.

Che Guevara

This trip reminds me of that of Che’s trip to discover poverty. I am more well equipped than him in terms of money, however he started his trip when he was 10 years younger to me. His trip also was for a year and mine only for 10 days. He was travelling for fun & discovery mostly and i am looking out for poverty and the state of infrastructure in the country.

Injuries

Spicy and I have both been hit with minor injuries before the trip which brings down our resistance. We are well on our way to recovery but it would nag us on our trip although only a bit.

Friends

I might meet some of my oldest friends, family and mentors during this trip. Meeting your best friends in another place other than your own town has its own joy. My two mentors groomed me for my professional career and morality.
